ProComp Launches Inclusive Martial Arts Program for PARA-Athletes — Kickoff Event This Sunday at 1 PM

Gilmer, TX – May 16, 2025 — ProComp Sport Martial Arts is breaking barriers and making martial arts accessible to all with the launch of its new PARA-Athlete Martial Arts Program, designed specifically for children and teens with physical, developmental, or sensory challenges. The program officially kicks off with a special Preview Day this Sunday, May 18th, from 1:00 to 4:30 PM at ProComp’s headquarters in downtown Gilmer.

With a mission to create an uplifting and empowering environment, ProComp’s PARA-Athlete program welcomes students with autism, physical disabilities, developmental delays, vision and hearing impairments, and other health conditions.

“Every child deserves the chance to feel strong, confident, and capable,” said Clayton Watkins, founder and master instructor of ProComp Sport Martial Arts. “Martial arts isn’t just about punches and kicks — it’s about building life skills, developing focus, and fostering a belief in oneself. This program is about making sure everyone has that opportunity.”

Watkins, a 6th Degree Black Belt and coach for the U.S. National Team heading to Wales this October, has long believed in the transformative power of martial arts. With over 100 national titles and 286 regional championships under his school’s belt, ProComp has a proven track record of excellence — and now, they’re expanding that impact.

“This isn’t about limitations,” Watkins added. “It’s about discovering strengths. Our team has created a curriculum that adapts to each student’s abilities, helping them grow in confidence and ability at their own pace.”

The PARA Preview Day will give families a chance to tour the facility, meet the instructors, and experience sample activities. The event is free and open to the public, with no obligation to enroll.

ProComp’s inclusive approach reflects a growing demand for adaptive physical programs in East Texas. Parents and community leaders alike are praising the initiative for its forward-thinking and heart-centered design.

The event will be held at:
