|The stars of good fortune aligned when Columbus M. ‘Dad’ Joiner struck oil with the Daisy Bradford #3 on one of the state’s largest oil fields. The town of Kilgore officially became known as the “City of Stars” decades later as dozens of oil derricks twinled in the night skies.
