Healing Time ❤️‍🩹

SUNDAY March 26, 2023

“Where words fail, music speaks.”

Hans Christian Anderson

Just as the spring season returns fruits and flowers to the land, music is an antidote for pain and provides healing for the soul. We invite you to read P.A. Geddie’s story about the fascinating life of Grammy-nominated musician Ruthie Foster in this issue and see her in concert at Memorial City Hall in Marshall on Saturday, April 1, or Liberty Hall in Tyler on Saturday, April 22.

Creating music was practically a matter of survival for some composers featured in Mount Vernon Music’s concert Saturday, April 1, titled Folk Tunes and Captivity Transcended. Read more about their struggles during World War II in the story below and don’t miss the opportunity to see their music performed live. — Lisa Tang
