🏛️ True Places

SUNDAY December 18, 2022

“It is not down in any map; true places never are.”

Herman Melville

Cartographer T.M. Fowler drew hundreds of innovative panoramic maps in the 1890s that gave significance to cities of all sizes. Small towns like Ladonia and Wolfe City were depicted almost as prominently as Denison and Greenville.

The best places are where we participate in good times with loved ones. Community centers, local eateries, and even theaters where we experience memorable events such as “Christmas With the Annie Moses Band” can become the true places in our lives.

Find more stories about great places around the region in the County Line eMagazine. Check out the November/December eEdition for information about more great events and visit our calendar and Live Music sections.

Fowler produced 411 hand-drawn two-dimensional panoramic images of cities in 21 states throughout the U.S. — 13 of Texas cities. READ MORE.
