Franklin County Historical Association and the Franklin County Library will present the Water Beetle Cherokee Programs on Thursday, July 29
The Franklin County Historical Association and the Franklin County Library will present the Water Beetle Cherokee Programs on Thursday, July 29 in Mt. Vernon.
Two different programs will be presented: One for children and a more expanded program for families.
Both are FREE.
The children's program will be by Kathy Lynn, professional storyteller, author and founder of the Water Beetle Cherokee programs. She will demonstrate and talk about how the Cherokees lived in the 1700's and 1800's. The children's program will be at 2:00 p.m. in the Franklin County Library or the Century Room on Kaufman Street across from the Library.
A PowerPoint presentation of photos, along with native American music, and stories will be a part of the more in depth program called the "Trail of Tears" which will be presented at 7:00 p.m. in the Mount Vernon Music Hall (Yates and Leftwich Streets). Families can "travel back in time to learn about Cherokee life, foods, weapons, clothing, and more". Joe Lynn will show and demonstrate the authentic making and use of tools and weaponry.
