The Kilgore College Adult Education Department will award 57 General Education Development (GED) diplomas at its annual graduation ceremony 7 p.m. Friday, June 11, in Dodson Auditorium on the Kilgore College Campus.



More than 400 students have earned GED diplomas during the past year from KC, although only a portion of them have chosen to participate in the commencement.



Dr. Mike Jenkins, Kilgore College’s Vice President of Student Development, will be the commencement speaker. Jenkins holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University, a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Tyler and a Doctor of Business Administration from Northcentral University. Jenkins currently serves as the President of the East Texas Literacy Council.



Valedictorian for the class is Savana Parker of Henderson, and the salutatorian is Jacci Hammonds of Dangerfield.



The KC Adult Education Program, directed by Bobbie McGee-Benson, is headquartered at KC-Longview, and has 25 other sites throughout Gregg, Rusk and Upshur counties.



Adult education meets a variety of student needs including GED preparation, job-training assistance, college preparation, English as a Second Language and general life improvements skills.
