Gilmer man seriously injured in 2-vehicle accident

An 18-year-old Gilmer man was seriously injured in a 2-vehicle accident early Wednesday evening.

According to the Department of Public Safety report, Dustin Cody Glinsmann was northbound on FM 852 on a Honda ATV when he crested a hill and collided with a 2001 Ford Taurus driven by Joseph Blane Wright, 56, of Gilmer.

Wright, who was southbound, was attempting to turn left onto Private Road 4079.

Glinsmann hit the Taurus in the right front quarter panel.

Glinsmann was taken by helicopter ambulance to East Texas Medical Center in Tyler. The accident occurred at about 6:30 p.m.

Both drivers received citations.

Trooper Jody Hammond investigated the wreck.

I dont know,but what i do know is that they are driven on the f.r. way too fast! my 5 yr. old grandson, who was 3, at the time,was almost ran over by 1,just checking the mail w/me 1 afternoon! yes, i was furious and upset enough to call the sheriffs dept. out, they made the guy get off of it, till the next time! I will pray for a speedy recovery for the young mr.Glinsmann, I also will pray he has learned a lesson on why they are called atv"s,and nobody else will get hurt!
