The Kilgore College Theatre Department will perform the play, A Christmas Carol, adapted from the famous novella by Charles Dickens. Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. Nov. 19 – 23 (Wednesday-Sunday), and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 5 – 7 (Friday-Sunday).

Additional matinee performances are set for 2:30 p.m. both Sundays, and all performances will be in Van Cliburn Auditorium on the KC campus.

Dickens’ novella A Christmas Carol was first published in 1843. The book was an instant success, selling more than 6,000 copies in one week, and the tale has become arguably one of the most popular and enduring Christmas stories of all time.

KC will perform the Royal Shakespeare Company’s version, adapted by John Mortimer, filled with ghosts, spirits, magic and of course, Scrooge. It will be directed by theatre instructor Kathy Barber, with the set design and lights by Michael Atkins, theatre instructor.

Tickets for the play are $8 for adults, $6 for students and $4 with a KC identification card. The box office will open one hour prior to each performance and nobody will be admitted after the play has begun. Patrons could reservations after Nov. 10 and pick up tickets at the Will Call window on the afternoon or night of the performance.
