Kolby Hogan, senior choir student at Harmony High School sang his way into the prestigious Texas All-State Mixed Choir auditions held at Texas A&M University at Commerce on Jan. 9.
Last year, Kolby was a member of the Texas All-State Men’s Choir.
The arduous All-State competitions across the state of Texas begin in September when thousands of high school music students in choir, band and orchestra begin auditioning at the region, pre-area and area levels, leaving the “best of the best” to perform in All-State choirs, bands and orchestras at the Texas Music Educator’s Association conference held in San Antonio in February.
The Texas All-State Mixed Choir is the top choir of the state, placing only the highest ranking four of each of eight voice parts from each area across Texas into the choir. Kolby, son of Floyd Hogan, will be attending the Texas Music Educator’s Association conference in San Antonio with his high school choir director and vocal teacher, Lora Robison, Feb. 10 to 13.
