Devin Kennedy of Gilmer is serving the country in the Nation’s capital as a member of the USAF Honor Guard Drill Team at Bolling AFB, Washington, D.C.
Kennedy enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and graduated from basic training in March, 2009.
Kennedy was one of 13 chosen from a graduating class of about 800 to attend tech school for the Washington, D.C.-based Honor Guard.
On completion of Honor Guard training in May, 2009, Kennedy was chosen to train for the Drill Team, becoming a member in July, 2009.
The USAF Honor Guard Drill Team is the traveling component of the USAF Honor Guard.
The team promotes Air Force awareness across the country with their precision drill performances at military and public venues, as well as participate in recruiting. They also represent the U.S. overseas.
The Drill Team is currently traveling to San Antonio and Hawaii. Planned trips include a Southwest U.S. tour and a trip to Norway.
Devin was a member of the Gilmer High School JrROTC program. He is the son of Carol and Pat Kennedy.
Another ROTC cadet and GHS graduate of 2009, Richard Chance, graduated from basic training Sept. 11 and is attending tech school training for the Honor Guard in Washington, D.C.
