In the rain last Friday morning, a small wagon train headed out of Diana bound for Hamburg, Ark., a journey of 220 miles.

Wagonmaster Harold Rogers has been planning this trip for a year or longer. It is his journey of the heart. HR has driven horses hundreds of miles, but this trip is special. He's going home.

Friends and family joined him, smiling in spite of the rain, for that is the cowboy way.

Everyone was inspired by their journey and humbled by their courage. Country folk are a different breed — tough and determined, they don't scare easily.

Texas and United States flags adorned more than one wagon.

During the trip, the travelers will participate in a cure for cancer benefit ride in Arkansas, their tribute to a lifelong friend of HR’s who succumbed to cancer last year.

The wagon train will cross over into Louisiana, then enter Arkansas on their 2-week journey. May they go in a good way.
