Piney Woods Expo set for this weekend

DIANA — First Baptist Church of Diana is bringing the 2009 Piney Woods Outdoors Expo to Diana and the surrounding communities this weekend (Sept. 12 and 13). This weekend event is for the entire family.

The Expo was set into motion Thursday night with a Ladies’ Dinner. Edwina Patterson spoke on “The Balanced Life.”

Saturday is full of activities, including an Outdoors Expo and children’s games from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., a silent auction from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., a 5K Fun Run and Walk at 9:30 a.m., and a Men’s Barbecue Dinner at 6 p.m.

Hank Hough, a world-renowned hunting dog trainer, will give live demos and outdoor “how to” talks at the Outdoors Expo. (See separate story, this issue.) Plus you’ll have the opportunity to watch his Amazing Dog Show at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

There will also be classic cars, a trophy room, Bass Tub fishing demos, a knife-making demo and a duck-calling demo.

Bring your children along to visit for fun with the inflatable home-run derby, mechanical bull and climbing wall. There will be snow cones, popcorn, hot dogs and drinks for all. Everything is free.

Saturday night will wrap up with a Men’s Barbecue Dinner.

The men will enjoy a guy’s night out with a chance to win some great door prizes.

They will also hear guest speaker Jay Lowder, featured on ESPN Outdoors.

The weekend wraps up with Diana’s Xtreme Alive Youth Event at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Teenagers will enjoy all of the activities going on, such as a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, extreme games, awesome prizes and free food. Plus there will be music from The Cliftones and special guest Jay Lowder. This is an action-packed evening you will not want to miss.

2009 Piney Woods Outdoors Expo is an event for the entire community of Diana and the surrounding areas.

Saturday’s events will be located on the campus of First Baptist Church of Diana at 1759 U.S. 259 South. Sunday’s events will be located at New Diana High School, located at 11826 Hwy. 154 East.
