The Gilmer Mirror will publish a hard-bound veterans pictorial history book of Upshur County, Texas. The announcement was made today by Sarah L. Greene, publisher emerita.

The book, planned for release by Memorial Day 2010, will be a library-quality, hard-bound collector’s edition featuring up to 96 pages of old photos and text depicting those who have served in the Armed Forces from Upshur County, Texas.

The Gilmer Mirror is issuing an appeal to area residents to submit veterans photographs, which will be considered for inclusion in the book.

“We feel our local veterans from Upshur County, Texas are very important, and that people would love a historical keepsake like this,” Mrs. Greene said.

In addition to the standard hard-bound version, a limited edition collectors’ version will be available. No more than 50 numbered copies of this leather-bound edition will be published. It will include a custom bookplate affixed to the inside cover, which will be hand-numbered.

To reserve a copy of In Their Honor: A Pictorial History of Upshur County Veterans, you may do so by sending or bringing in your order now. The standard version is $34.95, plus $2.88 tax per copy. The first 500 to order will receive a $10 discount, making their copy cost only $24.95, plus $2.06 tax. The limited edition will be $75, plus $6.19 tax.
