Theatre Northeast will conclude its 24th season with the Tony Award-winning comedy, The Odd Couple, by Neil Simon July 9-12 at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at Northeast Texas Community College.
The show will be performed July 9, 10 and 11 at 7:30 p.m. and July 12 at 2:05 p.m. in the Studio Theatre of the Whatley Center. The Odd Couple is one of Broadway’s funniest and most successful comedies, later made into a long-running successful television program.
Tossed out of his house by his wife, Felix Ungar decides the best thing to do is move in with his best pal; barely housebroken, deliberately devolved caveman, Oscar Madison. With in a few days, slovenly sportswriter Oscar and compulsive neatnik Felix are driving one another bonkers. The laughs are non-stop as these two mismatched buddies make a go at being roomies.
Featured in the play are Distinguished Theatre Northeast Alumni Trey Garbers of Winnsboro and New York as Felix and Jeff Stirl of Lone Star as Oscar. Other Distinguished Theatre Northeast Alumni cast are Chris Dawson, Josh Miles, Tim Rovell and Cassie Pennington of Mount Pleasant, Kevin Weddle of Longview, Jill Bradley of Avinger, and Melvin Blackburn of Austin. Other cast members include Stephen Graham of Mount Pleasant, Eric Staples of Daingerfield and Josh Wilcox of Pittsburg. The Production Stage Manager is Sarah Miles (Distinguished Theatre Northeast Alumnae of Mount Pleasant). Assistant Production Stage Manager is L. J. Nickerson of Pittsburg. The Odd Couple is directed by Theatre Northeast Director Douglas Hoppock.
Veteran members of The Odd Couple cast have combined to have appeared in 210 theatre productions on the college and professional level, making this production the most experienced cast in the 24-year history of the NTCC theatre department.
Reservations are required due to limited seating. Tickets are available by calling the Whatley Box Office at (903) 434-8181. Tickets prices are Adults $7, Age 17 and under $5, NTCC Faculty, Staff and Sr. Citizens $3. NTCC students with current ID are free.
