Members of the
Ghostriders Equestrian Drill Team traveled to Lindale, Texas, to compete in the USEDC Super Ride VII, a U.S. Equestrian Drill Competition June 24-27.
After capturing state titles in Rodeo, Division 1 and Quads at the Texas Open in May, the team faced the heat of Texas and competition over the four days of the event.
With triple-digit temperatures each day, desire and determination kept the team focused on improving upon their national performance at Super Ride VI in 2008. In this, they succeeded. The team placed 1st in Division 5A and the Ghostriders, Cowgirls Inc brought home 1st in Division 11, the Ghostriders Quad teams have held the Division 11 title for the past 4 years. The Color Guard teams took 2nd and 3rd during the mounted color guard competition and the youth team placed 5th in Division 11-2 in at tightly scored event.
In drill competitions, the Ghostriders Youth and Adult teams entered 6 teams in 7 divisions — intermediate adult/youth mixed; youth and adult quads, a four-rider drill; rodeo; ride of champions and national championship overall title.
The Ghostriders competed against 60 teams from across the United States that arrived for competition as early as the preceding Sunday.
The team had an amazing week filled with thrills, intense heat, incredible competition, long days and short nights. The youth performed at their best as a group and had an incredible time together. Their teamwork showed the skill and determination these riders possess to continue the tradition of our youth riders.
It is an amazing set of results of which the youth and adult teams, parents and coaches and drillmaster are very pleased and proud and the Ghostriders thank everyone involved in helping the team succeed.
