Upshur County-Gilmer All-Stars qualify for state tournament

Courtesy Photo<br> THE UPSHUR COUNTY GILMER All Stars T-Ball team traveled to Pittsburg, June 20-25, and competed in the All Star Tournament against nine other teams. The Gilmer All Stars T-Ball team received 2nd place (runner-up) to end the Championship game of the tournament. Gilmer then played and won against Atlanta’s 3A, 2nd place All Star T-Ball team, in a game which determined the state qualifier. Gilmer will play in the State Tournament, beginning July 4, at Carthage. The 2009 Gilmer All-Star T-Ball team is the first Gilmer T-Ball team to advance to a state tournament. Team members include, front row from left, Kaleb Fitzgerald, Ethan Pate, Evan Patterson, Skyler Hall, Brennen Wilson and Graham Young; second row, Davion Smith, Devon Jetton, Justin Copeland, Brayden Skinner, Hunter Wynne and Brayden Clinton; and back row, (coaches) Tommy Stracener, Darrin Fitzgerald, Billy Wynne and Kyle Patterson.
