The City of Gilmer will hold a public hearing at Gilmer Civic Center ETEX Room, 1218 US HWY 271 N, Gilmer, Texas, on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, 5:15 p.m. for the fiscal year 2020-2021 proposed budget. This budget will raise more total property taxes than last year’s budget by $3,136 or 0.16%. and of that amount $13,839 is tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year. The City encourages citizens to participate in the discussion of the budget and to make their views known at the public hearing. Citizens unable to attend this meeting may submit their views to Maria G. Cisneros, City Secretary, at the Gilmer City Hall. Handicapped individuals wishing to attend this meeting should contact City Hall at 903-843-2552 to arrange assistance if needed.

ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS

Sealed proposals addressed to Mr. Greg Hutson, City Manager, City of Gilmer, will be received until 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 24, 2020 at the office of Hayes Engineering, Inc., 2126 Alpine Road, Longview, TX 75601, (903) 758-2010, for furnishing all labor, materials, equipment, supplies, and supervision necessary for the construction of the “2020 Street Improvements” consisting of approximately 4,150 SY of asphalt street improvements on selected city streets in accordance with the plans and specifications on file at Hayes Engineering. At the time stated, bids will be opened and publicly read aloud at the office of Hayes Engineering.

Plans and specifications may be examined without charge or obtained for $25.00 per set (nonrefundable) at the office of Hayes Engineering, Inc.

NOTICE OF MEETING TO CONSIDER PROPOSED BUDGET

The Upshur County Commissioners Court will hold a public hearing on the proposed budget for Upshur County at 10:00 a.m. on September 15, 2020 in a meeting to be held in the County Courtroom, Third Floor, Upshur County Courthouse, 100 Tyler Street, Gilmer, Texas. The proposed budget will raise more total property taxes than last year’s budget by $289,705 or 2.60%, and of that amount, $314,582 is tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year.
