Record Number of Runners Participate in Seventh Annual FRESH 15, $175K to be Donated to Charities
TYLER, Texas, March 9, 2020 – More than to 4,500 runners from 19 states and two countries participated in the seventh annual FRESH 15 race March 7 at FRESH by Brookshire’s in Tyler. Brookshire Grocery Co. hosts the annual event, which features 15K, 5K and kids’ 1K races.
One hundred percent of race revenue is donated to local non-profit organizations, with more than $965,000 raised since the FRESH 15 was established in 2014 including this year. BGC Racing hosts two races each year, the FRESH 15 and Heroes Run in Shreveport, La., and has raised more than $1 Million combined. The $175,000 raised this year will be donated to the 26 approved charities including Tyler Police and Fire Departments, East Texas Food Bank and Breckenridge Village of Tyler. The overall winner of the 15K race was Evan Kurui of Grand Prairie, Texas, with a course record finish time of 43:50. Vicoty Chepngeno, also from Grand Prairie and returning FRESH 15K female champion, was the top female finisher and set a course record for females at 48:32.
Current Tyler, Texas, residents were eligible for the Local Legends FRESH 15 Championship, with cash prizes awarded to the top three male and female 15K finishers. Carson Vickroy and Mallory Meredith were the top male and female finishers, respectively.

The eighth annual FRESH 15 race will take place on March 6, 2021. Early registration pricing for the 15K and 5K races is available until 11:55 p.m. CST on Tuesday, March 10, 2020.
BGC Racing also offers a challenge for FRESH 15 15K finishers to earn an extra medal if they complete the half-marathon at the Brookshire’s and Super 1 Foods Heroes Run Oct. 24 in Shreveport. Those who complete the challenge will receive a special plate that connects the FRESH 15 and Heroes Run medals.
