KC will host first-ever Northeast Texas Area Spring Fire Protection School in February

 

The Northeast Texas Firemen and Fire Marshal’s Association is sponsoring the first-ever Northeast Texas Area Spring Fire Protection School in February at the Texas Eastman Chemical Co. training grounds in Longview.

 

The school will be facilitated by the Kilgore College Fire Academy.

 

Classes will include S-130 and S-190 Wildland Firefighter Training, Rapid Intervention Training (RIT), Tank Battery Firefighting, Air Management, and NFA Incident Safety Officer training.

 

Training classes are for all members of volunteer, paid or part-time fire departments who want the latest training in firefighting and related skills.

 

All courses will be held at the Texas Eastman Chemical Co. training grounds, located at 300 Kodak Blvd. in Longview.

 

Students can register at Eastman Feb. 9-10, 16-17 and 22-24.

 

Registration will be held each day for Friday classes from 5 to 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. for Saturday and Sunday classes.

 

All classes are limited to 25 students.

S-130 Wildland Firefighter Training:

When: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday/Sunday, Feb. 9-10

Instructor: Terry Richardson, Texas Forestry Service

S-190 Wildland Firefighter Training:

When: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday/Sunday, Feb. 16-17

Instructor: Terry Richardson, Texas Forestry Service

Cost: $50

 

Rapid Intervention Training (RIT):

When: 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22 and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23

Instructor: Ben Harrison, Longview Fire Department Captain

Cost: $50

 

Tank and Battery Firefighting:

When: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23

Instructor: Mike Fennell, lead instructor, KCFA

Cost: $50

 

Air Management:

When: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24

Instructor: Mike Simmons, director, KCFA

Cost: $50

 

NFA Incident Safety Officer training:

When: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday/Sunday, Feb. 23-24
