Winnsboro, TX, April 12th, 2018 – The Northeast Texas Child Advocacy Center held its eighteenth annual Jerry Edwards Memorial “Chip-in-for-Children” Benefit Golf Tournament Thursday, April 12th at the Garden Valley Golf Course located in Lindale, Texas. The four-man scramble was attended by 116 golfers. All fees including Greens, Cart and the after tournament dinner are covered through Corporate Sponsorships, Teams or Individual players.
This tournament is the Advocacy Center’s largest fundraiser, and this proved to be our best year to date raising just about $35,000 in proceeds used to cover much needed services for the children in our community that are victims of abuse. Ozarka® Brand Spring Water of Hawkins has been the primary corporate sponsor of this event for the past thirteen years.
“On behalf of Ozarka and our 250 employees in Hawkins, we are proud to partner with such an important organization in East Texas,” said Jeff Hall, Factory Manager for Ozarka’s Wood County Bottling Facility in Hawkins. “This is our 14th year providing lead sponsorship support to this wonderful organization. The Northeast Texas Child Advocacy Center provides a critical service for children and families in crisis and Ozarka is committed to promoting and supporting the health and welfare of children in this region.”
Along with NETCAC’s local sponsors and players, Ozarka encourages their production partners to sponsor and send representatives to golf from all over (in and out of state).
Trophies were given to the top three teams, “Closest to the Pin” and “Longest Drive”, along with several door prizes at the dinner following the tournament.
The Northeast Texas Child Advocacy Center began in 1998 and currently covers Camp, Delta, Franklin, Hopkins, Rains, Titus, Upshur and Wood Counties. NETCAC commemorates its 20yrs of service and has interviewed over 8,200 children as well as provided services to thousands of other secondary victims of abuse.
All services provided at the center are offered at no cost to the victims and their non-offending family members as a result of community support through donations and fundraisers along with grants. The center provides video recorded forensic interviews, counseling, forensic exams, crisis counseling, court testimony, case tracking, team staffing, training, coordination with other social agencies for client assistance and public education on child abuse awareness. As a proactive approach, the center also provides parent education classes to strengthen families in their core values and patterns of raising children. As an accredited organization of National Children’s Alliance and member of Children’s Advocacy Centers of Texas, the Northeast Texas Child Advocacy Center strives to promote the best practices in our community in child abuse prevention.
