I am Tom Steele, longtime public address announcer for the Buckeyes. My sister is Cindy Clark Gabehart, former Yamboree Queen, GHS graduate, and current principal of Pine Tree High School.

Recently, she was made aware that there was a State Championship ring from Gilmer’s 2009 State Championship at a Longview pawn shop. She loves Gilmer so much that she went out and bought it to give me as a Christmas gift.

After she gave it to me, I contacted Coach Jeff Traylor, who knew the young man and he indicated that he thought it might have been stolen. Through the magic of Facebook, I contacted the player and sure enough, it was stolen years ago.

I made arrangements to return it to its rightful owner this weekend. The player was Jordan McCraven, who currently lives in Fort Worth. It was a perfect Christmas gift that I get to re-gift. One of those times that it is entirely appropriate to re-gift.

The Buckeye nation always sticks together and looks after one another.

I thought it was a cool story.

My name is Tom Steele also. I live in Canada but my family has roots in Texas. It's great to learn that someone with the same name is an honest and generous person
