Lions move up one spot to No. 8 in AFCA Coaches Poll - LINK

WACO – The Texas A&M University-Commerce football team moved up a spot to No. 8 in the American Football Coaches' Association Division II Coaches' Poll, released Monday.

The Lions ran their record to 8-1 overall and 6-1 in the Lone Star Conference with a 52-0 rout of UT Permian Basin on a special Saturday which saw the dedication of Ernest Hawkins Field at Memorial Stadium, as well as the celebration of the careers of 21 Lion seniors. The Lions limited the Falcons to 125 yards of offense as the senior class picked up its 36th win in the last four years to tie for the most wins in a four-year span at A&M-Commerce.

A&M-Commerce has been ranked in 37 consecutive AFCA polls, dating back to the 2015 preseason poll. This is A&M-Commerce's 43rd all-time appearance in the AFCA poll since its inception in 2000. Of the top 25 teams in this poll, 10 are in Super Region Four.

The Lions travel to Tarleton State in the final regular season game of the year as the two teams battle for the President's Cup. Kickoff against the Texans is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Stephenville's Memorial Stadium.
