Bestselling author Laura Schroff to speak at NTCC
The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation will host its annual Distinguished Lecture Series event on Thursday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. This year’s lecture will be presented by New York Times bestselling author Laura Schroff.
Schroff was a featured speaker at Leadercast 2014 and was well-received by those who attended the simulcast at NTCC. She is a former advertising executive who has worked with several major media companies. In her distinguished lecture, Schroff will discuss the inspiring true autobiographical story behind her bestselling book, An Invisible Thread, which explores her unlikely friendship with a young homeless boy in New York City.
“An Invisible Thread is the story of how Maurice changed my life, and I his. It is the story of how two people who needed each other somehow became unlikely friends, against all odds. It is the story of the mysterious, unseen connections that exist between people who are destined to meet—and how, if only we open our eyes and our hearts to them, these connections can be the great blessings of our lives,” Schroff said of the book (from aninvisiblethread.com).
Dr. Jonathan McCullough, NTCC Vice President for Advancement, said that the college received so much positive feedback from Schroff’s Leadercast presentation that the Foundation decided to bring her to NTCC for a face-to-face talk.
“Ms. Schroff is an engaging speaker with an inspirational story to tell. I have no doubt that this will be an uplifting and life-afirming event for attendees,” McCullough said.
