GET READY FOR THE DAINGERFIELD STEEL COUNTRY FESTIVAL
The 27th Daingerfield Steel Country Festival is getting close, October 2 – 4th. Do you need a booth to exhibit or sale your wares? Are you planning to be in the Parade? Will you be competing in any of the many contests or tournaments? Then don’t wait! Get your entry forms in now. They are available on the Daingerfield Chamber website at daingerfieldtx.net, or you may contact the Chamber at 903-645-2645 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The festival will kick off with a Community Stew and Style Show on Thursday evening. The Friday night dance will get you moving and ready for the all day festivities on Saturday. Come out early for the Pancake Breakfast to start the day, or maybe you plan to participate in the 5K Run/Walk. For all you golfers, the tournament awaits. Of course, if you want a more relaxed day, there will be plenty of activity going on in and around the City Park. The Parade is a sure crowd pleaser, while arts & crafts, entertainment and multiple contests will be going on throughout the day. It is just a short walk to see the Car & Truck Show, the Art Exhibit, and to visit the County Fair. Don’t miss the Ag Mechanics Display & Silent Auction to see what our area High School students are learning. For gaming, there will be Bingo and a 42 Tournament. Maybe you like the game of chance. New this year is the Duck Race! Pick the right duck and win big. If you like competition, there surely is a contest you can enter. School classes will be participating in the Pumpkin Decorating Contest, while others may compete in the Hula Hoop or Dog Costume Contests. The Treasure Hunt and Car Rally/Poker Run is sure to provide a challenge. There will be a new contest called Steel Life. Make something or someone out of any type of scrap metals such as old tools and metal parts, cans, wire, even chicken wire. There are examples on the Chamber website with the entry form. The Chili Cook-Off is back! Get your recipes perfected and ready to taste.
THAT’S NOT ALL! There will fun for the whole family in the expanded play area where the bounce house and mega obstacle course will challenge the youth of all ages, as well as, the new Spider Mountain. Climb up and down the mass of webbing and when you are tired out, slide down the 40ft slide. The double Euro Bungee will spring you into action, providing opportunity to flip while soaring high in the air. If you dare, take a whirl in the GyroXtreme. This twirling ball of steel will make you feel like an astronaut spinning through space. Now, for all you brave young cowboys, and not so young, try out the mechanical bull. Don’t worry; you will have all the fun without the danger.
Don’t forget all the food! With all this fun and activity, your pancake breakfast will wear off. Concessions will be available, as well as, the great Hamburger Lunch and the Steak Dinner to end the day.
There is a lot of talent in our area and we need volunteers to entertain for blocks of time at the gazebo in the park on Saturday. Bands, twirlers, dancers, singers; whether an individual or group, contact the Chamber office to be put on the schedule.
If you or your organization would like to be a Sponsor for the Steel Country Festival, contact the Chamber office at 903-645-2646 or email at email@example.com.
