Gilmer Elementary School Principal John Wink has resigned to become Curriculum Director of the Tatum Independent School District.

Wink, who is in his third year here after coming from Hallsville ISD, said Monday night he will assume his new post May 1. Gilmer School Supt. Rick Albritton said Tuesday the Elementary School's Assistant Principals will be in charge of the school before a new principal is named within a month.

Gilmer ISD has posted the job opening, and is accepting applications, Albritton said.

Wink told The Mirror that his tenure at Gilmer has "been an outstanding experience. . .(It's been) a pure delight to work wtih the parents and the children."

Albritton praised him Tuesday, saying "He promised me two years, and gave me three."

Wink was a principal in Hallsville ISD before coming here.
