Two 14-year-old boys have been arrested in the shooting death of a 17-year-old Diana man, and more arrests are possible in the case, the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office said today.

The body of Jacob Michael Johnson of Diana was found in his vehicle in the Diana community Sunday night, and preliminary autopsy reports indicated he died from two gunshot wounds to the head, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

One suspect was arrested Tuesday night, and another was arrested early this morning, Upshur County District Attorney Billy Byrd told the Tyler Morning Telegraph. He said they are being held in a juvenile detention center, but declined to give the location.

The suspects were not from Upshur County. As of Friday morning, no additional arrests had been made.

The vehicle with the body was parked beside Sego Lily Road in eastern Upshur County, said Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Lyle Potter, who said he did not know the circumstances under which the body was discovered. He said he pronounced Johnson dead at the scene at 3 a.m. Monday.

The body was found sometime before 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

The Sheriff’s Office had said Monday that deputies “responded to a suspicious vehicle call” in the Diana area, and that upon arrival, “they found a male subject dead from a gun shot wound.”

Suspects’ names were not released, because they are juveniles.
