CinemaCon underway in Las Vegas

CinemaCon, the national convention of theater owners, is underway at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas this week. The event began on Monday, March 24, and continues through Thursday, March 27.

The convention attracts owners from all over the US, and also includes an International Day today for owners in foreign countries.

CinemaCon is in its fourth year of operation and annually honors some of Hollywood’s finest. The awardees this year include Shailene Woodley, who will receive the “CinemaCon Female Star of Tomorrow Award”, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who will receive the “CinemaCon Comedy Filmmakers of the Year Award”, Kevin Costner, who will receive the “2014 Cinema Icon Award”, Ivan Reitman, who will receive the “CinemaCon Lifetime Achievement Award”,

Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler, who will receive the “CinemaCon Female and Male Star of the Year Awards”, Leslie Mann, who will receive the “CinemaCon Comedy Star of the Year Award”, Nicola Peltz and Jack Reynor, who will receive the “CinemaCon Rising Stars of 2014 Award”, Jon Hamm, who will receive the “CinemaCon Award of Excellence in Acting, and Charles Pratt, who will receive the “CinemaCon Breakthrough Performer of the Year Award”.

During the annual event , the major motion picture studios showcase movies coming up in the near future and give the theater owners an advanced screening an clips of some of those movies.
