‘Safety Procedures for Child Care Facilities’ offered at no cost March 22, 29

Seats are available for the free Kilgore College course, “Safety Procedures for Child Care Facilities,” set for March 22 and 29


The class will meet 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both Saturdays in the Bert E. Woodruff Adult Education Center in Kilgore.


Advance registration is required no later than Thursday, March 20, but the class is free and materials will be provided. 


The course is a 12-hour workshop designed for child care professionals.  It will focus on topics related to the safety and health of young children.  Students will earn 12 hours of Continuing Education credits from KC.


The class will review materials in the “Minimum Standards for Child Care Facilities Manual.” 


Discussion will also focus on Shaken Baby Syndrome, SIDS, insect and food allergies and playground security.


The class will be offered a second time on Tuesday and Thursday evenings for two weeks.  The class will be offered April 1, 3, 8 and 10 from 6:30 to 9 p.m.  Registration deadline is Friday, March 28.
