Gilmer —To help develop tomorrow’s leaders today, the state’s largest farm organization has announced a major scholarship honoring former Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) President S.M. True Jr.
“College students majoring in agriculture are encouraged to apply for this new scholarship,” said Upshur County Farm Bureau President Jimmy Shipp.
The $20,000 scholarship was established by the Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) board of directors to honor the commitment and dedication True had for Texas agriculture.
“Agriculture depends on strong, passionate leaders, and this scholarship is a great opportunity for students who are pursuing agricultural careers,” Mr. Shipp said.
Mr. Shipp noted that applicants must be a member of a TFB family with continuous membership for at least three years at the time of application. In addition, a completed application and two letters of recommendation—one from the county Farm Bureau president and one from the dean or head of the agriculture program department of the applicant’s college or university—are required.
Applications are due in the state office April 30.
