The Gilmer Fire Department will be honorary elephant bathers when they aid the mighty Carson & Barnes Circus in washing their amazing pachyderms.

The bath time wil be scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Gilmer Civic Center on Monday, March 17.

PACHYDERM FACTS

Jut like humans the Carson & Barnes Circus elephants take daily showers. Although; unlike most of us they really get the royal treatment. They get to lie down and get scrubbed by their loved handlers.

It takes approximately 500 gallons of water and five gallons of soal just to give the elephants their daily bath. The majestic pachyderms are bathed with a special soap that helps clean their naturally tough skin.

Pressured water is used to help them achieve a spa like cleansing! Everyone is invited out to watch this once in a lifetime opportunity to see an elephant bath for FREE!

"We admire elephants in part because they demonstrate what we consider the finest human traits: empathy, self-awareness, and social intelligence. But the way we treat them puts on display the very worst of human behavior." - Graydon Carter

It's very sad the The Elephant Doctor refers to selfless, well-meaning animal lovers as "trolls." We're actually decent people expressing our compassion for living beings. I was going to use this space to share my wishes for the animals; that they be humanely treated, but I'm guessing the Animal Doctor could use a little compassion, too. So, Elephant Doctor, I want you to know that at least one of the :trolls" has as much empathy for you and what you've been through as I do for the elephants. I hope you can believe that I am not being sarcastic in any way. I wish you well.

The Elephant Doctor, we are voicing our option that's all. Why is it every time we do, we get called names? It's bullying, no different. Grow up.

And the animal rights trolls come out from the walls like the cockroaches they are. Same tired rhetoric, same tired catch phrases, same tired buzzwords. Why is EVERYBODY with a computer and a keyboard considered an expert in animal care?

When advocates say "do your research" they mean google "elephant abuse Carson Barnes" and you will come up with a lot of documentation, including on You Tube. Tricks ruin joints, elephants suffer costant and live half their lifespan. They can't lay down because they live in cramped vans, freezing for too hot. This exhausted elephant is a CB elephant. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=225562117522889&set=a.222219424523825.56064.123785434367225

PLEASE DO NOT SUPPORT CIRCUSES THAT (AB)USE LIVE ANIMALS!

ANIMALS ARE NOT ENTERTAINMENT!

CIRCUS ANIMALS SUFFER AT THE HANDS OF TRAINERS FROM ELECTRIC PRODS, WHIPS AND BULLHOOKS.

THE ONLY THING A CIRCUS TEACHES CHILDREN IS TO LAUGH AT THE SUFFERING OF SENTIENT BEINGS!

NO ANIMAL SHOULD BE CHAINED BY A LEG OR IN A CAGE 23 HOURS A DAY, DEPRIVED OF ALL NATURAL HABITAT!

20 COUNTRIES AROUND THE GLOBE HAVE BANNED ANIMAL CIRCUSES AND A FEW CITIES IN AMERICA!

HELP END CIRCUS SLAVERY NOW!!!!

Please do your research and see how cruel circus's are for ALL animals. They are barbaric and should be banned...not encouraged. You have to be a great bunch of people to be involved in the Fire Department. Please do the right thing and use your influence to make people aware of the horrific conditions that these beautiful animals have to endure...just to make us laugh!? I know you will all do the right thing! :)

Please do research on how abusive and cruel the circus is to the elephants and all the animals. Its not a fun time for them, suffering getting poked and hit...many youtube videos for you to see... I am asking you do NOT support this cruelty. We are trying to bring up a new generation that care about how all animals are treated, and life in the circus in not a way any animal should live...Please reconsider and join the movement freedom and a great life for the poor circus animals...thank you for checking out a life of animals in the circus....

Dear Firemen,

Your job is to protect beings from harm, not be part of it, which is what you are doing by collaborating with the Carson Circus. Elephants & all wildlife suffer terribly in circuses- with beatings, electrical shocks, chains and constant traveling. Be an ele friend, not another exploiter & abuser to them!

I am so saddened that you are engaging in the torture of elephants. Think of its life, chained daily, not able to take but a few steps, torn from its family, hours riding in tractor trailer trucks. These are emotional living beings. They deserve to be wild doing what comes naturally...walking for miles and miles everyday. Man has no right to own these animals and use them for his entertainment and monetary gain. I have always had the utmost respect for fireman, risking your lives to save others. It is the most admirable profession there is more than a doctor. However you who have the power to be a part of the enslavement and abuse of these animals. Shame, shame on you.

Please do not encourage the use of wild animals for our entertainment. Elephants are abused and imprisoned by circuses (loved handlers? Not true) They belong in the wild, not in captivity.

Please refrain from having elephants at your event. These are wild animals who are not here for our entertainment. I encourage you to do our research and understand how these poor creatures are abused and forced to live a life of slavery.

Please do your research and discover how these poor creatures are abused to make them do tricks, and suffer every day being chained and not allowed to walk, graze and socialize with other elephants. Having Elephants in circuses is so wrong on so many levels. I had hoped this slavery would of been abolished by now.

Please do not have the elephants @ your event. Elephants in the circuses are abused to do harmful tricks that do not come natural to them. The only way these trainers can teach the elephants to due tricks is through abusive treatments and his harmful to there bodies, mind and spirits. Please do not be part of the problem, please be a part of the solution by not employing greedy & abusive people that make these poor gentle giants preform tricks that do not come natural to them, it is through a abuse. Thank you & best Reguards, Regina

Dear members of the Gilmer Volunteer Fire Department: Read how Carson and Barnes Circus treats their animals and you will not want to have anything to do with circuses. I am hoping the next generation realizes how cruel and inhumane zoos and circuses are and will refuse to attend even if their parents buy them tickets.
