2014 ANNUAL ALL-STAR GAMES

The Texas High School Coaches Association is pleased to announce the coaches for the 2014 THSCA All-Star Football and Basketball games. The All-Star games, sponsored by Fuddruckers, are held in conjunction with the Annual THSCA Coaching School, which this year will be held in San Antonio, July 20-23, 2014.
Joey McGuire, head coach of the Cedar Hill Longhorns, will coach the North Football team. Coach McGuire’s eleven year record at Cedar Hill is 107-35. The Longhorns have made playoff appearances for the last nine years winning 6 district championships, 7 bi-district championships and making it to the state finals three times, winning the state championship in 2006 and 2013.
Bob Gillis, head football coach at El Campo High School, will coach the South Football team. After serving as head coach in Columbus from 1988-91, Gillis began coaching in El Campo in 1992 and left for an administrative position in 1997. He returned to El Campo in 2003 and took the Ricebirds to the state championship game in 2012, finishing with a 14-1 record. His record at El Campo is 133-44-2. His career record is 162-59-2.
In basketball, Jaime Boswell, head coach at San Angelo Central High School, will coach the North team. Coach Boswell has been a head basketball coach for 17 years and is in his 4th year at Central. He has led his teams to the playoffs 13 times in the previous 16 years including 2 regional tournament appearances. The Central Bobcats have reached the playoffs the last two seasons with an outright district title and regional quarterfinal appearance in 2012 and the most wins in a season since 1963 (31).
The South Basketball team will be coached by Lonny Hubbard, head coach at Cibolo Steele High School. Coach Hubbard is in his 13th year of teaching and coaching. He served as an assistant at Steele since 2006 before becoming head coach in 2011. Taking on a team who had only won 6 games the previous season, Hubbard led the Knights to the playoffs in his first year at the helm. The 2012-13 season saw the Knights advance to the state tournament where they lost in the state semifinals.
