MARSHALL, Texas (2/12/14) – The East Texas Baptist University (ETBU) Board of Trustees announced today the formation of a Presidential Search Committee. The Trustees convened in a called meeting on February 11, 2014 to elect a seven-member committee to search for the 13th President of ETBU. University policies and procedures call for the seven-member committee to be comprised of the three Board officers plus four other members of the Board selected by their fellow Trustees. The Board Chair serves as the Presidential Search Committee Chair.

The Search Committee is comprised of officers Judge David Anderson, Board Chair; Maj. Gen. Vernon Lewis, Board Vice Chair; and Susan Bush, Board Secretary; as well as at-large members Hal Cornish, D.M. Edwards, Tom Lyles, and Dr. Ben Raimer.

The Presidential Search Committee will conduct a nationwide search to fill the presidency. The Board expects the Search Committee to complete their work as expeditiously as possible and hope to have a new President in place this summer. “Our plan is to do a thorough search and follow God’s direction to find the best person to continue to lead our University in a positive direction,” said David Anderson, ETBU Board and Presidential Search Committee Chair. “We are blessed with an excellent faculty and staff, a wonderful student body, top notch facilities, and a compelling mission and vision. We look forward to attracting an outstanding Christian leader to serve as ETBU’s next President,” Anderson continued.

The Presidential Search Committee asks all who care about ETBU to pray for the search process and the leadership transition at the University.
