THE GILMER FFA carried a team of nine public speakers to compete in the San Antonio Livestock Show Public Speaking Contest. The trip was a great success. Several students were able to gain experience in public speaking, including underclassmen, and even a member of the Gilmer FFA 8th Grade Program attended the trip. Gilmer’s success was put on clear display in that Gilmer was the only one of all the schools to have three students reach the final round of competition. Those students were Hank Nelson, Maddison Evans and Jake Traylor, who placed 7th overall. The Gilmer competitors included, back row from left, Hank Nelson, Jake Traylor and Ag. Science teacher Sue Witt. Middle row, Reagon Isonhood, Danielle Beasely, Louren Thompson and Aber Lagrone. Front row, Logan Parish, Becca Grimes and Maddison Evans.
