Retreat Offers Workshops Featuring Cooking, Professional Development, Couponing Strategies, Home and Car Maintenance and More

CANTON, Texas – January 30, 2014 – The lineup of informative sessions has been announced for the seventh annual Legacy of Love Retreat, February 21-22, for single moms and "married singles" - those women whose husbands are in the military or who travel extensively, leaving them at home in charge of the family.

The retreat kicks off on Friday at 5:30 p.m. with dinner, music, and a presentation by the keynote speaker, Kathy Peel, America’s Family Manager. Nationally acclaimed singer Keron Jackson will also perform.

On Saturday the all-day retreat runs from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Kathy Peel will lead several sessions, and in addition there will be more than 25 workshops, including:

Personality Assessment – By identifying the most common personality behaviors, you can improve communication with others, reduce stress, and prevent conflict.

Dress for Success – Positively influencing others through dress and grooming.

Pinterest craft project – A hands-on decorating project attendees take home.   

Fast and Easy Meals – Cookbook author Teri Sawyer will share quick and easy meals that children will love to eat.

Abundant Living on a Dollar – The thrifty saver, Cricket Penny, will share how to make  money go further through smart purchasing decisions.

Couponing Strategies – For saving money and getting your favorite groceries for free.

Housekeeping Secrets – Learning how to keep your house sparkling without giving up your weekends to clean.

Car Maintenance – Basic knowledge and skills to keep your car in top running condition.

Healthy Relationships – A professional counselor will teach how to resolve conflict and develop the skills to form healthy relationships.

God's Everlasting Love – A personal testimony of God's love and grace.

Meals throughout the event are provided at no cost to attendees. Complimentary childcare is also available during the retreat, for newborns through children in fifth grade.

Registration for the retreat is required, along with a $30 registration fee. Financial assistance is available. The registration deadline is Friday, February 14.

Legacy of Love is a ministry of First Baptist Church - Canton. The event will be held at the church, 303 S. Athens St. in Canton.
