U.S. Marine Corps All-Star Jazz Band will present free concert Feb. 4 at KC

Kilgore College will present a free concert featuring the United States Marine Corps All-Star Jazz Band in February.



The concert is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, in Dodson Auditorium on the Kilgore campus.



The concert will showcase the 18-member Marine Corps. jazz band that draws its musicians from 10 Marine band programs throughout the world including “The President’s Own” U.S. Marine Band.



“We’ll make stops in Texas at cities such as Dallas and Houston with the culminating performance in San Antonio on Feb. 13 as a featured performer at the Texas Music Educators Association’s annual convention,” said Staff Sergeant Jay Thomas.



Sgt. Thomas said that the U.S. Marine Corps All-Star Jazz Band will be the only featured military band at this year’s TMEA convention.



The band, directed this year by Stephen Giove, reunites each year for a concert tour and gives performances featuring a variety of jazz standards.



This is the sixth year that the band has toured the United States.
