The East Texas Oil Museum will offer free admission Sunday, Dec. 15, for children up to age 12 who bring two non-perishable food items.

The museum’s food drive will benefit Helping Hands of Kilgore.

Museum hours Dec. 15 are from 2 to 5 p.m.

Parents accompanying the children will receive a reduced admission of $5 (regular admission is $8) if they also bring two non-perishable food items.

Visitors should plan to arrive no later than 2:30 p.m. to have time to enjoy the museum exhibits and the Christmas decorations.

“This effort by the docents and museum staff is vitally important to help those less well-off among us, especially during the Christmas season,” said museum docent Clark Sexton.

The museum will be open regular hours through Dec. 21.

It will be closed Dec. 22-25 and Dec. 29 through Jan. 1, 2014, but will resume its regular winter schedule on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014.
