2013 CHESAPEAKE ENERGY PARADE OF LIGHTS TO BE THE ‘CLEANEST HOLIDAY PARADE IN AMERICA’
FORT WORTH, TEXAS (November 19, 2013) – The 31st annual Chesapeake Energy Parade of Lights presented by CHASE will not only be one of the largest illuminated parades taking place this holiday season, but also the ‘cleanest holiday parade in America’ in 2013, due to a partnership between parade producers, Downtown Fort Worth Initiatives, Inc., and the Tarrant Regional Water District.
Taking place in Downtown Fort Worth the day after Thanksgiving on November 29, the 2013 Chesapeake Energy Parade of Lights will feature dozens of “Reverse Litter” volunteers who will pass out small litter bags along the parade route and encourage attendees to dispose of their trash after the event.
“By passing their trash-filled bags forward after Santa makes his appearance, parade revelers can do their part in making the Chesapeake Energy Parade of Lights the ‘cleanest holiday parade in America,” said Marilyn Ackmann, chair of the Festivals and Events Committee for Downtown Fort Worth Initiatives, Inc..
The Reverse Litter team will also have a booth in the “Holiday Fun Zone” arts-and-entertainment area, located in General Worth Square on Main Street between 8th and 9th Streets, beginning at 2 p.m. on the day of the parade, where volunteers will educate the public about the “Reverse Litter” initiative taking place and also on other anti-litter campaigns that help keep local waterways clean.
“Much of the litter we see on land eventually ends up in our waterways, because the storm drains in Downtown Fort Worth lead straight to the Trinity River,” said Chad Lorance, communications manager at Tarrant Regional Water District. “Our efforts to make the Chesapeake Energy Parade of Lights the ‘cleanest holiday parade in America’ will also help keep our river clean.”
Volunteers interested in helping with the “Reverse Litter” campaign at this year’s Chesapeake Energy Parade of Lights can learn more by visiting www.ReverseLitter.com or www.Facebook.com/ReverseLitter, or by contacting Anthony Spangler at (817) 332-0404 / email@example.com. All volunteers will also receive a reserved Parade seat, t-shirt and complimentary refreshments.
