(LONGVIEW, Texas)—Seven LeTourneau University students interested in careers in the medical field will attend the Global Missions Health Conference in Louisville, Ky., on Nov. 7-9, thanks to the assistance of several local doctors.
Local physicians provided funding for the following students to attend the GMHC: freshman chemistry/biology major Jake Aldredge of Delavan, Wis.; junior chemistry/biology major Stormie Carter of Boise, Idaho; senior chemistry/biology major Sam Nemati of Altadena, Calif.; Senior Biomedical Engineering chemistry/biology major Alex Rhyner of McHenry, Ill.; sophomore biology major Matt Sturm of Loveland, Colo., freshman chemistry/biology major Danielle Thiessen of Richmond, Texas; and junior biology major Emily Tutt of Austin, Texas.
“This life-changing conference is a great mix between a missions conference, a medical conference and a conference on international development,” said Karen Rispin, LETU professor who is leading the trip. “Our students will have great opportunities to interact with medical professionals from virtually all of the medical mission agencies serving around the world. Also, two recent alumni who are pursuing medical careers, Alysa Nash and Elizabeth Richardson, are also attending with us.”
