Pumpkin chunking contest’ is Oct. 26

'Chunkapalooza' will be held at KC Demonstration Farm in Overton


The Kilgore College Agriculture Program will host the “Chunkapalooza” pumpkin chunking contest” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26.

The event, coordinated by the Agriculture Student Association, will be held at the KC Demonstration Farm in Overton.

Student teams from KC and East Texas high schools will compete by using launching devices they’ve built to “chunk” three pumpkins of varying weights,

Monetary prizes for first through third place will be awarded for the highest average of the shortest and longest throws and also for the most creative team based on equipment, costume or performance.

The event will also feature hay rides, face-painting, pumpkin sales and photo opportunities with the pumpkins.

Directions to the KC Demonstration Ag Farm:

The KC Demonstration Farm is located on Hwy 135E in Overton.

Take Hwy 259 south toward Henderson.

Turn right on FM 918.  FM 918 becomes Hwy 135E at Hwy 42.

Directions are posted to the launch site at the horticulture area of the farm.
