SAN ANTONIO — Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson will make a stand at the Alamo in defense of the Second Amendment.
Patterson is the keynote speaker for an open carry demonstration at Alamo Plaza – expected to draw scores of men and women bearing long rifles – at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19. The “Line in the Sand” rally is being organized by several groups of gun rights activists. Both the armed and the unarmed of all ages are welcome to attend.
“A right that goes unexercised is in jeopardy of being lost,” Patterson said. “The Second Amendment gives citizens the power to defend every other right we have. It gives the People the right to both keep and bear arms. As more of us exercise this important right in full public view, more Americans will stand up and defend their gun rights along with the full spectrum of Constitutional liberties.”
Those carrying long-barreled guns should use a sling to promote a non-alarming manner of carry. Gun etiquette will be enforced and chamber checks will be performed regularly to ensure additional safety.
