Nacogdoches Funeral Home Hosts Spirit of ‘45 Day Event

in Honor of the World War II Generation


NACOGDOCHES, Texas (July 15, 2013) – Thursday, August 15, 2013, will mark the fourth year the National Spirit of ’45 Day commemorates the anniversary of the end of World War II. The public is invited to honor and remember the men and women of the World War II generation with a “USO Show” from 6 – 7 p.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches. The public is welcome to join in by taking a step back into the 1940s by dressing in vintage attire. Root beer floats, lemonade, tea cakes, popcorn, 1940s-era memorabilia as well as 1940s-inspired entertainment will take participants back in time. Special guests include Nacogdoches vocalist Kathy McGough accompanied by pianist Shirley Watterston, East Texas Timbretones Barbershop Chorus, Heart of the Pines Sweet Adelines, whistler Ruby “lips” Woodard as well as Director of the Gobel School of Dance Katy Parr Smith and company member Keith Haynes.
