TJC Cheerleaders to Deliver Meals on Wheels!

July 16, 2013 (TYLER, TX) – Members of the Tyler Junior College Cheerleaders will deliver meals to Meals on Wheels Ministry clients on Tuesday, July 16th. The group will be arriving in full uniform at the Tyler location around 10:00 a.m. to prepare for their day of service. After collecting their route information and meals, the cheerleaders will go out into the community around 10:45 a.m.

“We are excited to have this group of young community members take an interest in serving our clients,” said Mike Powell, Meals on Wheels President/CEO. “I think the seniors will get a real kick out of seeing these incredible young people arriving in uniform. It’s sure to brighten their days!” Meals on Wheels relies on hundreds of volunteers each day to carry out the mission of the organization in East Texas.

"Tyler Junior College maintains three promises to its students and the community, and Promise Number Three is Community Service. Our Cheerleaders' participation in Meals on Wheels delivery is another example of our institution's commitment to helping others in a way that also helps our students grow as human beings,” said Fred Peters, TJC Director, Public Affairs & Grant Development.
