Sarah Johnston was recently awarded the Northeast Texas Community College Hanson-Sewell Dual Credit Scholarship for the 2009 spring semester.

Sarah is a junior at Union Hill High School and she is the daughter of Bill and Jackie Johnston.

The many honors Sarah has received include National Honor Society member, FFA Treasurer, Junior Class Secretary and FFA Sweetheart.

Sarah also participates in softball and band and is ranked first in her class.

Funds for the Hanson-Sewell Dual Credit Scholarship were raised by the Hanson-Sewell Center advisory committee by selling tickets to win a catered event at the NTCC Our Place Restaurant.

This scholarship awards students up to $200 to be used towards the purchase of their textbooks.

This scholarship assists students who are getting a jump start on their college career by taking courses while still in high school.

The next scholarship to be awarded will be in May for the fall 2009 semester.

For more information on the scholarship, or to make a donation to the fund, contact Jennifer Myers, NTCC Hanson-Sewell Center Director at 903-855-1441.
