THE CLOTHES CLOSET, operated by the First United Methodist Church of Gilmer, is continuing to prove those quarters add up. Open on Thursday and Saturday mornings, they sell most items for 25 cents each (i.e., sport coats, shirts, ties, dresses, shoes, etc.), and then donate the money to various local charities. They recently gave the Upshur County Shares Food Pantry $10,000, and the Upshur County Child Protection Board another $10,000. From from left are Penny Taylor, presenting the checks; Lola Nelms of the Child Protection Board and Dr. Don Warden of the Food Pantry, and Linda Steger. In back are Joy Beth Moore, Anita Baker, Pete Thomas and Tammy Orms. The Clothes Closet is located at the intersection of Montgomery and Buffalo Sts., across from the church.
