The number of people represented by this was 1,535, compared to 1,380 for the previous year.
“We again gave out our allotment of commodity boxes, which is 131,” said Dr. Don Warden, another program organizer.
“If all of our commodity boxes are not given out in two consecutive months, then our total, we get in can be cut back,” he said.
He said that in April, the pantry was able to provide a good selection of produce, including white and red potatoes, tomatoes, oranges and onions.
“Although we give out one food box a month to clients, they can come in every week and pick up any produce we have,” Dr. Warden said.
“We appreciate all the individuals and groups that have been so faithful in supporting the pantry, and all the volunteers who show up every day we are open to work, and all those who have us on their prayer list,” he said. “If any would like to see first-hand the pantry operation, we invite you down to see. Thanks again for all you do. We are making a difference!”
The pantry distributes food to its clients on Monday and Wednesday mornings from its location on Buffalo St, a half block west of the square in Gilmer.
