Texas Day Extravaganza to be Held at Kilgore City Park



Over 500 East Texas students are expected to attend Region 7 Texas Day at the Kilgore City Park, May 10, 2013, from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM.

Media and local government officials are invited to share this day with 7th grade students from Overton ISD, Carlisle ISD, Kilgore ISD, Longview ISD, Marshall ISD, Spring Hill ISD, Quitman ISD, Excelsior ISD, Winnsboro ISD, Winona ISD, Waskom ISD, and Carthage ISD.


The Texas Day Extravaganza will include a variety of historical, cultural, and artistic programs including:  the Texas Camel Corp, American Indian Dancers, Buffalo Soldiers, Sam Houston’s Volunteer Army, pioneer tools, spinning, weaving and blacksmith demonstrations, stories of Texas, Buffalo Hunters, and much more!

Photo opportunities for all media will be available. Photo release forms in place; children without releases will have a notation on their name tag. Students with parents on location will be available for interview.


The Texas Day Extravaganza will be held at the Kilgore City Park, between North Street and Kay Street, in Kilgore, Texas.
