Certified Veterinary Assistant training is taught at Upshur Rural Electric on Highway 154 in Gilmer, usually the fourth Thursday of each month, 6:30 PM to approximately 8 PM. The students are encouraged to perform community service and are taught many significant veterinary tips by working at the monthly low cost pet vaccination clinic at PETCO in Longview the fourth Saturday of each month at 12-2 PM. Vaccinations are given by a licensed veterinarian and the proceeds are donated to the Circle-V 4-H group and Upshur County Hope House, the no kill sheter by Dr. Cherie Nazzal.
