UPSHUR MANOR Nursing Home held its first "Pretty in Pink" beauty pageant on October 10. A good number of residents participated in the pageant and many of those who didn't participate attended so that they could cheer on the contestants. The winners were as follows - For the gentleman, 3rd place was Mr. Charles Russell, 2nd place was Mr. Mike Fluellen and 1st place, named Upshur Manor King, was Mr. Don Bolton (photo above). The ladies winning the pageant were, in 3rd place, Mrs. Corrine Williams and in 2nd place, Ms. Theresa Kent. Crowned as Mrs. Upshur Manor Queen was Mrs. Euna (Granny) Crossland (photo above, wearing the red gown). Mrs. Crossland is one of Upshur Manor's oldest residents. She will be 101 in December and deferred her Queen status to Ms. Kent. Mr. Bolton and Ms. Kent (photo above, wearing the purple gown) will represent Upshur Manor in Friday's Yamboree Parade and on November 5 will attend a regional beauty pageant in Longview. Upshur Manor would like to thank all of the volunteers who helped with the pageant. A special thanks to Mary Kay representative Kimberly Everett for providing makeovers for all our beautiful female contestants.
