“The ceremony is to honorably dispose of old American flags that have served well, but are now tattered and worn and are no longer serviceable,” said Jerry Holsworth, commander of the American Legion Peppy Blount Post 320.
They will be assisted in this service by the Gilmer High School Air Force Jr. ROTC chapter.
The public is invited. If you have an old flag to retire, you may leave it at Gilmer Drug or Baker’s Cleaners in downtown Gilmer, or call 903-843-4324.
