Early voting in the county for the Nov. 6 General Election begins Oct. 22 and continues through Nov. 2 at the Upshur County Courthouse only, said County Clerk Brandy Lee.

Hours will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. during weekdays.

If you haven’t register to vote but want to participate, the last day to register is this Tuesday, Oct. 9.

To register, simply stop by the Tax Assessor-Collector’s Office on Titus St. a block north of the Courthouse in Gilmer.

Voter registration applications are also available on-line at the Texas Secretary of State’s website at www.sos.state.tx.us.

You are eligible to register to vote if:

• You are a U.S. citizen.

• You are a resident of the county where you submit the application.

• You will be at least 18 years old on Election Day.

• You are not a convicted felon, although you may be eligible if you have completed your sentence, parole or probation.

• You have not been declared by a court to be either totally or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.
